Spike Jones and His City Slickers were among the many performers showcased in “Soundies,” short musical films designed to be played in special jukeboxes. In CLINK! CLINK! ANOTHER DRINK (1942), Del Porter leads the chorus and there’s a featured vocal by Mel Blanc, the voice of many legendary cartoon characters (including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety and Sylvester, Yosemite Sam, and Barney Rubble). Read all about Soundies in THE SOUNDIES BOOK: A REVISED AND EXPANDED GUIDE TO THE “MUSIC VIDEOS” OF THE 1940s (2007) available from iUniverse at www.iuniverse.com

The individual that pulls this card (the challenger) will play against their number on the opposite team (the defender). What’s needed: 1 Die, 1 Quarter, and a lot of shot glasses. An empty shot glass is placed in the centre of the table along with the quarter. The attacker takes the die, but before they roll they must place their bet. This can be a number from 1-10. When they have decided on a number the same number of shot glasses will be filled with beer and placed in the middle of the table to represent their bet. Then they roll the die… Whatever number they get will be the number of attempts they have to bounce a quarter in to the empty shot glass. Now, before they start their attempts the defender places their bet. They cam bet as much or as little as they want. For example: If you were the defender and a 1 was rolled the attacker would have only 1 attempt to get the quarter in the shot glass which is quite hard so was would bet more in this case but if a 6 was rolled the attacker would have 6 attempts so you would bet less. When all bets are placed the attacker can start their attempts. If they finish all their attempts and still haven’t got the quarter in the shot glass then they lose the bet and must consume their shot glasses. However if they get it in with the required amount of attempts the defender must drink the drinks. The winner is the player who has drunk the least drinks at the end of the game. *There is one point available in this game *There are 4 …
WHAT?! Mhm, glass blowing at it’s finest. Went and made “tumbler” glasses today, which are just regular drinking glasses pretty much. Experience was freaken awesome and the glass was really cool to work with. I first covered my glass blob in white glass chips and then in green to create a nice translucent looking piece of kitchenware. Chris used black and yellow, and we’re not sure how either turned out but we will on Tuesday, when we’ll pick the cups up. I’ll post the results in the video I make then! Anyway, Happy mothers day and enjoy the super chillax weather the earth is having right now (at least, by me).
